"Back to Back" by W. W. Jacobs is a funny short story about an everyday man named Mr. Scutts who sees a chance to get money from a train company after a small accident. He pretends to be badly hurt so he can get compensation, involving his wife, Mrs. Scutts, and neighbor, Mr. Flynn, in his plan. Things get mixed up when Mr. Flynn has to pretend to be Mr. Scutts for the doctor, which leads to lots of silly misunderstandings and funny conversations. The big twist happens when Mr. Flynn unexpectedly "gets better" and takes the compensation money, leaving Mr. Scutts in a tricky and comical situation. The story looks at ideas like trickery and shows how funny it can be when people try to get money dishonestly. It also highlights the weird things that can happen in friendships when people don't understand each other.
