"The Unknown" by W. W. Jacobs is a funny short story about a night-watchman who plays a trick that goes wild. Things get even crazier when the night-watchman's and captain's wives step in, causing misunderstandings and funny moments. The story shows how silly love can be and how jealousy can stir up funny chaos.
