Summary

"The Westminster Alice" by Saki is a political satire set in Edwardian Britain, where Alice from "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" finds herself amidst the absurdities of the political world. Through encounters with caricatures of real political figures and visits to places like Downing Street, Alice's journey is filled with witty dialogues that expose the ridiculous side of bureaucracy and political games. Like the original story that inspired it, this tale maintains a playful, fantasy-like feel while offering a humorous commentary on the political climate of the time.

About the Author

Hector Hugh Munro, popularly known by his pen name Saki and also frequently as H. H. Munro, was a British writer whose witty, mischievous and sometimes macabre stories satirize Edwardian society and culture. He is considered by English teachers and scholars a master of the short story and is often compared to O. Henry and Dorothy Parker. Influenced by Oscar Wilde, Lewis Carroll and Rudyard Kipling, Munro himself influenced A. A. Milne, Noël Coward and P. G. Wodehouse.
