"S.O.S. Aphrodite!" by Stanley Mullen is a science fiction novel set in a time where space travel exists, that tells the story of Steve Coran, a patrolman, who gets caught up in a wild mission with space pirates and a secret plan made by the government. Coran's job is to get back important papers from someone who ran away and is mixed up in space crimes, all while traveling on a ship called "Aphrodite". He meets Gerda Mors, who is trying to find her brother on Venus, but he is somehow linked to the crimes. Things get messy when an asteroid hits their ship, leading to fights with pirates and even bigger secrets coming out; the book intricately intertwines trust, doing what is right, and trying to survive, leading to a big ending that shakes up what Coran thinks is true, testing loyalties and personal beliefs.
