Summary

"Failure on Titan" by Robert Abernathy is a science fiction story occurring in a future where humans have genetically engineered a slave race, the Woollies, to mine resources on Saturn's moons. When a Woolly commits an act of violence against a colonist, panic spreads, and the fragile balance of power begins to crumble, as one human overseer, Paul Gedner, attempts to manipulate the ensuing chaos for his gain. Big Bill, one of the Woollies caught in the middle of the conflict, becomes unexpectedly central, fighting not only for his own autonomy but also for the freedom and autonomy of his people, revealing the dark side of ambition and human greed and reflecting on the complexities of control, obedience, and the very definition of humanity, where a quest for power can lead to deadly ends.
