Summary

"Newshound" by Stephen Marlowe is a science fiction tale that throws readers into the high-stakes world of 22nd-century journalism. The twists and turns begin when protagonist Darius McLeod, a top reporter at the "Star-Times", finds himself caught in a web of danger with the competing paper, the "World". McLeod learns he’s possibly targeted for assassination with a foretold "accidental death" detailed by his rival's prediction department. As McLeod deals with the mayor stressing the grim predictions, the story focuses on the intense rivalry between the two newspapers and how reporters actively shape the news they cover. Facing threats both inside and outside the newsroom, McLeod must question his own values, the burden of his influence, and the cost of loyalty as he fights to uncover the truth.
