"Revolt of the Outworlds" by Stephen Marlowe is a science fiction story set in a future where Mars and other Outworlds have declared independence from Earth, but such freedom quickly descends into widespread conflict. Following the death of his father, a champion for Outworld sovereignty, Alan Tremaine finds himself reluctantly thrust into a leadership role amid growing rebellion. Soon after a tense political gathering intended to solidify the Outworlds' new independence, celebration quickly turns into a battle cry as separate factions begin fighting each other, threatening the peace. Alan must confront not only enemies seeking war but also unravel a conspiracy that clouds his father’s vision, forcing him to fight to protect whatever remnants of his father's goals have survived.
