The first American King

"The First American King" by George Gordon Hastings is a story set at Dr. Belden's health retreat on Long Island, where guests go to get better. Two men, Detective Kearns and Professor Dean, find themselves caught up in a strange mystery when they meet the odd Dr. Jaquet. He shows them a cave where he says people can be frozen in time. But Kearns and Dean get a big surprise when they suddenly fall asleep for many years. When they wake up, they find themselves in a completely new world ruled by a king, promising a look at big changes in politics, society, and inventions.
