Summary

"The Intriguers" by Harold Bindloss is a story set in Quebec, introducing us to Mrs. Keith and Millicent Graham, whose lives are intertwined with secrets and societal expectations. The story hints at Millicent’s complicated ties to Richard Blake, a man carrying the weight of a scandalous past and family issues. As Mrs. Keith and Mrs. Ashborne talk about Millicent, it becomes clear that she is a woman of high regard, despite having a father whose reputation is a concern. A chance encounter with Richard on a riverboat increases suspicion and foreshadows a complex interplay of past deeds and future desires with themes of redemption and social class.
