Summary

"The Brethren" by H. Rider Haggard is a historical adventure that plunges into the heart of the Crusades, amidst clashing cultures, valiant knights, and forbidden love; it follows twin brothers, Godwin and Wulf D'Arcy, as they face danger and difficult decisions when warfare with the Saracens threatens to tear them apart, testing their bravery, loyalty, and the bonds of kinship, with the intriguing Rosamund caught in the middle, as they all navigate the complex landscape of love, honor, and duty in the shadow of Sultan Saladin's grand designs and the ever-present threat of conflict.

About the Author

Sir Henry Rider Haggard was an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations, predominantly Africa, and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. He was also involved in land reform throughout the British Empire. His stories, situated at the lighter end of Victorian literature and including the eighteen Allan Quatermain stories beginning with King Solomon's Mines, continue to be popular and influential.
