"Lord of the World" by Robert Hugh Benson is a story set in a future where religion is fading and new ideologies are taking over. It follows characters such as Oliver Brand and Father Percy Franklin as they deal with a world in trouble and the rising Eastern Empire, as well as a mysterious man named Felsenburgh. The book begins by showing a society with lots of new technology but less and less faith. Father Percy and Father Francis talk about how Communism has grown stronger because religion isn't as important anymore. Meanwhile, Oliver Brand, who works in politics, worries about the threat from the East and the powerful new leader, Felsenburgh. As things get more tense, the characters start to question what people believe and what will happen to humanity, setting the stage for big disagreements.
