The Shadow-Gods

"The Shadow-Gods" by Bill Garson, is a science fiction story set in the 1940s. The story follows Space Commander Curt Wing as he fights for humanity's survival against the Mercurians and mysterious shadow creatures. After battling the Mercurians in space, Wing and his crew are called back to Earth when a strange blue force field appears over New York City, hiding dangerous shadowy beings. Inspired by the memory of his fallen comrade, Dead-Eye, Wing comes up with a plan to use old weapons to fight the shadows. He gathers Earth's forces for a big battle, where they combine clever ideas, bravery, and sacrifice to fight the shadow-beings and save the world.
