Summary

"Doomsday 257 A.G.," by Bryce Walton, paints a picture of a grim future where a machine called the Gray God holds humanity in its cold, metal grip, stifling any chance of advancement or happiness. This is a story of adventure and fighting back, where important questions are asked about who we are, what we remember, and how to stand up to a powerful bully and its control. The main character, Cadmus, has lost his memory, but he knows he must take down the Gray God and set people free. He finds help along the way from Zaleel, a graceful dancer, and Johlan, a smart scientist. As the time for worshipping the Gray God gets closer, Cadmus has to sneak into the council tower and use a special tape to wreck the machine from the inside. But, a web of secrets starts to unravel that include his father, and he learns about the ugly truth that the very people he thought he could trust have turned against him. In the end, Cadmus is forced to make a hard choice between things falling completely apart, or true freedom, and rebuild after the destruction of something so powerful.
