Summary

"Flower o' the Lily: A Romance of Old Cambray" by Baroness Emmuska Orczy is a story that transports readers to the war-filled Netherlands of the late 1500s where Messire Gilles de Crohin, a courageous knight, faces the harsh realities of love, loyalty, and war, all beginning after a devastating battle where he nearly loses his life, and his loyal companion goes missing. As Gilles recovers from his injuries, he must depend on his resilience to make his way through battlefield chaos and personal struggles, catching glimpses of hope and kindness, which highlight the emotional depth beneath his soldier's exterior, paving the way for a compelling mix of romance and historical adventure.

About the Author

Baroness Emma Orczy, usually known as Baroness Orczy or to her family and friends as Emmuska Orczy, was a Hungarian-born British novelist and playwright. She is best known for her series of novels featuring the Scarlet Pimpernel, the alter ego of Sir Percy Blakeney, a wealthy English fop who turns into a quick-thinking escape artist in order to save French aristocrats from "Madame Guillotine" during the French Revolution, establishing the "hero with a secret identity" in popular culture.
