Summary

"The Sapphire Signet" by Augusta Huiell Seaman is an early 20th-century story about Margaret Bronson, a young girl with a disability, her twin sisters, and their lively new friend, Corinne Cameron. The girls stumble upon an old trunk, a journal filled with secret codes, and a history connected to the Revolutionary War, changing their lives forever. The story begins by showing how the Bronson family lives, especially how Margaret dreams of going on adventures, even though she can't move around very well. One day the twins introduce Corinne, a girl from their school who loves old things and a historical book about New York City. Things get interesting when they find a hidden book in an old trunk, leading them to start a secret club to try and figure out the mysterious coded messages inside, making for a story about friendship, excitement, and the search for answers, as the girls set out to unlock the "sapphire signet's" secrets.
