Summary

"Assignment in the Dawn" by Bryce Walton is a science fiction story set in a future where a machine called World Brain controls everything after a big war, leaving people without freedom or individuality. A man named Roland wakes up with no memory of his past and finds out about a secret group, Frances and Berti, fighting against World Brain. They need Roland's help to take down the machine that has taken away humanity's spirit. On his journey, Roland struggles with what it means to be human as he deals with dangers, one of the major dangers being the Martians who are on the robot's side trying to control Earth. After Roland finishes his challenging mission and destroys World Brain, he finds out a big secret about who he is, causing him to question love, losses, and what being human really means in this crazy new world.
