Summary

"The Link" by Alan Edward Nourse is a science fiction story set in a future where two distinct groups of humans, the city dwellers and the Hunters, are in conflict. The story tells of fleeing and survival. Ravdin comes home to learn that the Hunters are closing in on his city. With his love, Dana, and the city’s leader, Lord Nehmon, he must decide whether to run or fight. Ravdin and Dana, driven by the hope of peace, choose to stay and try to communicate with the Hunters using music. This brave attempt leads to a dangerous meeting with the Hunters, who are fueled by vengeance. In a shocking turn, Ravdin and Dana lose their memories and are left with only their basic instincts. Even though they don't know who they are, their actions might have changed the relationship between the two groups, giving a small amount of hope for a better future.
