Summary

"Life Is a Dream" by Pedro Calderón de la Barca is a celebrated play from Spain's Golden Age that dives into the complex themes of free will, destiny, and what is truly real. The story centers on Prince Sigismund, locked away from the world since he was born because of a prophecy predicting he would become a terrible ruler. The play kicks off with Rosaura, disguised as a man, and her servant Clarin stumbling upon Sigismund's prison, where they find him grappling with his grim destiny and longing for freedom. The early scenes spark thoughtful conversations about life, choices, and whether we can escape what's meant to be, setting the stage for a thrilling exploration of who we are and the power we have.
