Summary

"A Midsummer Night's Dream" by William Shakespeare is a play that mixes the real world with the fairy world, creating a funny and tangled story about love and choices. The story begins with a Duke getting ready for his wedding, but quickly throws us into the drama of two young couples whose love lives are a mess. One girl's father wants her to marry a man she doesn't love, even though she's in love with someone else, leading the lovers to run away into the forest. However, this forest is full of fairies, including a king and a playful helper, who use magic to stir up even more confusion and mix-ups between everyone, testing their relationships.

About the Author

William Shakespeare was an English playwright, poet and actor. He is widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. He is often called England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon". His extant works, including collaborations, consist of some 39 plays, 154 sonnets, three long narrative poems and a few other verses, some of uncertain authorship. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright. Shakespeare remains arguably the most influential writer in the English language, and his works continue to be studied and reinterpreted.
