"The Convert" by W. W. Jacobs is a funny short story about a man named Mr. Billing who tries to change his ways after being inspired by Mr. Purnip. Mr. Billing wants to stop fighting, swearing, and drinking, and instead be kind and peaceful in his tough neighborhood. He hopes to become a better person, but his friends and neighbors make fun of him and challenge his new beliefs, leading to a series of comical events.
