"Shamar's War" by Kris Neville is a science fiction novel set in a future where Earth is united, and political intrigue spans across planets. Captain Merle S. Shaeffer is secretly sent to Itra, a technologically advanced world, to ignite a revolution against its tyrannical rulers. He transforms into Shamar the Worker, learning the local ways to better connect with the Itraians. His mission gets more complicated when he meets Ge-Ge, a local woman creating a deep and emotional bond that puts him on a collision course with the political complexities around him, ultimately making him question what it means to be loyal when fighting for freedom.
