Summary

"The Man Who Was Pale” by Jack Sharkey is a blend of spine-chilling horror and quirky dark humor set in the late 1950s. It's about Mrs. Tibbets, a landlady who worries a lot and rents rooms in her big house. One of her tenants, Vandor Thobal, is super pale and mysterious. His weird habits and the fact that he only comes out at night make Mrs. Tibbets increasingly concerned. She notices strange things happening around him and hears stories about health problems in the area. Even though she's scared, she tries to help him, and in doing so, she discovers that Thobal is hiding a dark secret connected to his strange appearance and a strange wooden box that he owns. The story builds to a surprising and unsettling ending where Thobal's true nature is revealed.
