Summary

"Coming Attraction" by Fritz Leiber is a science fiction story set in a troubled future after a massive war, where society is very different from today. The story looks at how men and women relate to each other, how people see themselves, and how war changes those relationships. Women wear masks as a normal fashion trend, which is influenced by fame, safety, and what society expects. The main character, Wysten Turner, is from England and living in New York. He rescues a masked woman from a dangerous car accident and then gets caught up in a dangerous mystery. He learns she is scared of violent groups and wrestlers who hurt women. Wysten steps up to face these dangers head-on, questioning what it means to be brave and exposing the risks involved in attraction when everyone hides behind masks. In the end, the author shares a deep story about the darker parts of wanting something and how society pushes people in different directions in a chaotic world.
