Summary

"Boy Meets Dyevitza" by Robert F. Young is a science fiction story unfolding on Venus, a planet where an American astronaut and a Soviet cosmonaut find themselves in a whirlwind of love, political tensions, and the potential for interspecies understanding. The story follows Captain Gordon Andrews and Major Sonya Mikhailovna, who, despite their countries' fierce space race, unexpectedly cross paths. Their chance meeting takes a bizarre turn when the local Venusian people misinterpret their interactions, leading to an unexpected marriage ceremony according to Venusian custom. As Gordon and Sonya deal with the consequences of their marriage and its political impact back on Earth, they find a growing connection that rises above national rivalries. The story builds to a moment of shared understanding and cooperation, symbolized by the birth of their child, demonstrating a hopeful future in a world yearning for peace.
