"The Governor of Glave" by Keith Laumer is a science fiction story that transports readers to the tumultuous planet Glave, where diplomat Retief arrives amid a political revolution. Retief, from the Corps of Diplomatic Technicians, has to figure out what's happening on Glave after the government was overthrown. The planet is now run by General Sozier, a military leader, and Retief must deal with lies. He encounters interesting people, like the self-seeking Taine, and uses his smarts to bring peace to Glave and wrap things up nicely.
