"Let Us Follow Him" by Henryk Sienkiewicz is a story placed long ago during a very important time in history, that explores how much one person's teachings can change lives. The story mainly tells of Antea, married to a powerful Roman man, and how her life is touched by Jesus. The big ideas in the story are love, a hopeful attitude, and trying to find what is real and true. Antea, who is troubled by strange visions, goes to Jerusalem with her husband, Caius Septimius Cinna, hoping to feel better. There, they see Jesus and are there when he is crucified. Antea is really moved by Jesus' calm way and what he teaches. She feels like her own suffering is connected to the hope that Jesus talks about. Even though she knows she is going to die, Jesus' words about love and hope change how she sees things. She has a strong feeling to follow Jesus, which shows how she changes from feeling sad to having faith. The end of the story is very emotional, and really makes you think about how strong faith and love can be in our lives as people.
