Summary

"Bright Islands" by Frank Riley is a tale set in a world driven by genetic engineering, where a young woman named Miryam finds herself at a Genetics Center, pregnant with a child conceived artificially. Overwhelmed by pain and despair, she reflects on her life and the soulless reality of her situation as an experimental subject. Her child, however, possesses a unique telepathic gift that offers a glimmer of hope for humanity's future, leading Miryam to dream of a world where her child's abilities unite people divided by science and society, showcasing the complex interplay of human emotion and the search for meaning in a world where scientific advancement lacks empathy.
