"Abbr." by Frank Riley is a science fiction tale that follows Walther Von Koenigsburg, a rich colonist from Andromeda, as he journeys to Earth, the fabled home of his ancestors. Expecting a cultural paradise, Walther is shocked to find Earth transformed by a culture obsessed with extreme brevity, where art and literature are condensed beyond recognition, leading him to question his dream of immersing himself in Earth's rich heritage. Beginning with Walther’s enthusiastic arrival on an Earth shuttle, his excitement wanes as he faces the challenges of a new language and culture, especially upon seeing the extremely condensed versions of art and literature. Undeterred by Earth's obsession with quick entertainment over profoundness, Walther sets out to save history’s original art and literature before it is lost forever, beginning a battle to preserve culture against societal change.
