"Establishing Relations" by W. W. Jacobs is a funny narrative set in olden times. Centered around the blundering romantic efforts of Mr. Richard Catesby, a ship's officer, the plot sees him captivated by a beautiful girl. He then faces a series of comical mix-ups. Catesby's pursuit of Prudence Truefitt quickly spirals when he is mistaken for her missing sibling, Fred, which creates uproarious confusion. As Mr. Catesby tries to straighten out his identity and win Prudence's affection, complications multiply, particularly when Mrs Porter shows up and says that he is her husband. The story rolls through Catesby's awkward struggles with wit and humor.
