"Green Tea; Mr. Justice Harbottle" by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu is a compilation of spooky stories from the late 1800s, all about scary things that mess with your mind and the supernatural. The plots are like puzzles that fit together spirits and medicine, told through the eyes of Dr. Martin Hesselius, who watches everything happen to people like the Rev. Mr. Jennings and Mr. Justice Harbottle. "Green Tea" kicks off with Martin Hesselius, a doctor who can't really practice anymore because he's not feeling well, talking about how much he looks up to this other doctor, Dr. Hesselius. He tells a story about the Rev. Mr. Jennings, who is having strange health problems and being followed by a creepy monkey ghost that gets stronger when he's scared. As the story goes on, Jennings gets more and more upset as he fights this ghost, causing him to question his faith and desperately look for a way out. The beginning of the book is super creepy, mixing together mental health issues, ghosts, and tough moral questions that Le Fanu does a great job of exploring.
