Summary

"J. S. Le Fanu's Ghostly Tales, Volume 4" by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu is a set of spooky stories from the 1800s. It has stories like "Ghost Stories of Chapelizod," "The Drunkard's Dream," "The Ghost and the Bone-setter," and "The Mysterious Lodger." Each of these stories mixes scary stuff with old stories and ideas about society, mainly in Ireland. The book explores scary stories about getting even, being good or bad, and things that can't be explained. The first story, "Ghost Stories of Chapelizod," takes place in an old town full of scary legends, with mean bully Bully Larkin. He picks on a younger guy named Long Ned because they both like the same girl. This leads to a big fight, and sets up main ideas in the book, which are guilt and ghostly punishment, mixing scary supernatural stuff a look at society.
