Summary

"Child of the Sun" by Leigh Brackett is a science fiction novel that plunges into a future where freedom is a forgotten dream, and minds are controlled by a ruthless tyrant named Gantry Hilton. The story shadows Eric Falken as he fights to stay free and protect Sheila Moore from Hilton's oppressive reach. Pursued across the vastness of space, Eric, aboard his ship "Falcon", seeks refuge on the planet Vulcan. There, they discover a mysterious and powerful entity, a "Sun-child," capable of shaping reality. As Eric and Sheila confront the forces of Hiltonism and the enigmatic Sun-child, they must unite to create a world where people can live again with freedom. The story crescendos with a challenge to the Sun-child's purpose, leading to the prospect of transforming the future.
