Summary

"Lorelei of the Red Mist" by Leigh Brackett and Ray Bradbury is a science fiction story where Hugh Starke meets his doom during a daring escape, only to find himself reborn with incredible power and the unwanted attention of a devil-goddess. As he struggles to understand his new reality, Starke is thrown into a world filled with strange beauty and danger, where he must navigate alliances and betrayals among alien warriors. With his past slipping away, Starke becomes a key player in a conflict involving the manipulative Rann, forcing him to confront not only external threats but also the shifting nature of his own identity amidst the looming specter of interstellar war. The complex relationships between Starke, the sightless warrior Faolan, and the strong commander Beudag hint at a tangled web of historical clashes and set the scene for a thrilling saga of identity, power, and survival.
