Summary

"The Victor" by Bryce Walton is a science fiction story that unfolds in a bleak future world. In this world, a powerful group called the Managerials controls people through technology and mind tricks. The book looks at the importance of being yourself, fighting back, and struggling against systems that treat people like machines. Charles Marquis, the main character, ends up in a prison camp on the Moon because he stood up to the Managerials. The system tries to take away his identity, but Marquis tries to hold onto his humanity by attempting suicide. However, he learns that the Managers can bring him back to life. He teams up with another prisoner to come up with a plan to defeat the system, which ultimately leads to a powerful message about freedom and hope.
