Summary

"Six Feet Four" by Jackson Gregory is an early 1900’s tale that begins with a storm in the mountains. People take shelter at Poke Drury's road house, where the one-legged owner greets a crowd of men. Then a woman named Winifred Waverly arrives, wet from the storm. She quickly gets the attention of the men. As the storm continues, they talk about recent robberies in the area. Suddenly, a masked robber shows up and steals from everyone, causing chaos. All of the guests decide they need to figure out what happened and to understand their relationships with each other. Throughout the night things change. The book looks at issues of danger, attraction, and how people lived in the old frontier days.
