Summary

"The Masters of the Peaks: A Story of the Great North Woods" by Joseph A. Altsheler is a historical adventure set during the French and Indian War that follows Robert Lennox, a hunter named David Willet, and Tayoga, an Onondaga warrior, as they face the perils of the wilderness. After a recent victory, the characters find themsevles on a scouting mission in the great North Woods as the cold winds of autumn swirl around them. Although the wilderness has a changing beauty, the wilderness, along with French and Native American forces, create danger; also, they must rely on their courage, friendship, and knowledge of the land to survive ambushes and perilous landscapes in the harsh landscape.
