Summary

"Old Rambling House" by Frank Herbert is a science fiction tale where Ted and Martha Graham's dream of settling down turns into a nightmare. Trading their trailer for what appears to be a grand house, they soon encounter bizarre events and a feeling of being used by the previous homeowners, Clint Rush and his wife. The Grahams' reality warps when they uncover that they’ve been snatched up by aliens called the Rojac, who are using them in some kind of plan. Ted, who works as a tax accountant, fights against his expected role to protect his family, especially their unborn child. The story brings up questions about making your own choices, what family means, and what a real home is.
