Summary

"Learning Theory" by James V. McConnell, is a science fiction story set in the late 1950s, diving deep into the world of psychology and behaviorism through the tale of a psychologist unexpectedly thrust into his own experiment; abducted and trapped on an alien spaceship, he becomes the subject of observation by an alien psychologist, with the psychologist forced to navigate a series of challenges meant to test and modify his behavior which are akin to a Skinner box, like pressing levers and solving mazes, he wrestles with his sense of self and the implications surrounding his capture while trying to manipulate the results of his trials to undermine his alien captor's expectations, this exploration encourages readers to critically examine both the ethical considerations of experimentation and the boundaries of scientific understanding when studying behavior.
