Summary

"Mistress Margery" by Emily Sarah Holt is a historical story that drops you into the life of Margery Lovell, a young noblewoman in the 1400s, who starts questioning the Church when she discovers new ideas from the Lollards, who follow John Wycliffe. The story kicks off at Lovell Tower, where Margery is doing the typical noblewoman stuff but really wants a deeper understanding of her faith. After hearing a sermon by Master Sastre, a Lollard preacher, she gets super interested in reading the Bible in everyday language. She secretly starts studying Wycliffe's translation of the Gospel of John, which puts her at odds with her family and the strict rules of society, and her search for spiritual truth could get her into major trouble.
