"Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom" by Cory Doctorow is a science fiction book that explores what happens when people can live forever and money doesn't matter anymore. The hero, Julius, lives in a future version of Disney World, now called the Bitchun Society, where people try to earn "whuffie," which is like social points for being cool. He deals with tricky friendships and what it really means to be alive when everything feels fake. Julius thinks back to his friend Dan, who is kind of old-fashioned, and they talk about life and why we're here in a world that doesn’t have regular problems anymore. The book dives into what's funny and also serious as everyone tries to figure out who they are in this weird, new world.
