Summary

"Little Nobody" by Mrs. Alex. McVeigh Miller is a story placed in 19th-century New Orleans, where a Northern journalist, Eliot Van Zandt, meets a young girl called "Little Nobody" who lives with a retired actress, Madame Lorraine. The novel checks into the confusing relationships and social classes of the time. As Eliot gets to know Little Nobody, he learns about her difficult life with Madame Lorraine, who has power over her, and her wish to be free and find her own identity. About the Author

Mrs. Alex. McVeigh Miller was the pen name of Mittie Frances Clarke Point, an American novelist. She wrote 80 dime novels during a 50-year career. Her first novel was Rosamond, but her success began with the 1883 romance, The Bride of the Tomb. She died in 1937. In 1978, her home, "The Cedars", was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
