Nobody's Child

"Nobody's Child" by Elizabeth Dejeans is a story set in the early 1900s, about a girl named Ann Penniman who feels alienated within her own family and community because of her tangled family background and a long-standing feud with the wealthy Westmore family. As winter gives way to spring in the opening scenes, Ann finds herself drawn to the exciting world of the Westmores after encountering their hunt, yet painfully aware of her different social position. When an accident involving Garvin Westmore occurs, Ann gets even more involved with the family and his brother, revealing her troubled past and her deep desire for affection and belonging, while hinting at the clashes that will come as her relationships with the Westmores grow more intense.
