Summary

"Little Sister Snow" by Frances Little is a story set in early 20th-century Japan, showing the life of a young girl named Yuki Chan as she grows up. The story shows her innocent childhood and the strict rules of her culture, creating an understanding of love, wishing for things, and giving up what you want for others. Readers will see the beauty and difficulty of Japanese traditions through Yuki's eyes. She changes from a happy child playing in a garden to a young woman facing a marriage that her family set up. When she starts to like Dick Merrit, an American boy visiting her village, she must choose between her feelings and what her family and culture expect. Yuki's life is full of pretty pictures of Japan and its customs, but it also shows the problems of being poor and wanting to be happy. She struggles with doing what her family wants and dreaming of love and being free, making it an emotional story for anyone interested in history and culture.
