Summary

"The Lady and Sada San" by Frances Little is a continuation of a previous story, set in Japan, where the main character travels to be with her husband, Jack, despite his objections, and to look after a young girl called Sada San, who is part American and part Japanese. The story explores themes of cultural background and the roles of men and women, along with the kindness between people as the narrator meets Sada on her way to Japan and learns about her hopes for returning to her family's home, even though there may be trouble waiting for her with her uncle.

About the Author

Frances Little was the pseudonym of American author Fannie Caldwell. Her first and most successful book, The Lady of the Decoration, was based on her experiences in Hiroshima, Japan, from 1902 to 1907.
