Summary

"The Big Time" by Fritz Leiber is a science fiction story that takes place in a strange world shaped by time travel and the Change War. The story follows Greta Forzane, who works at a Recuperation Station for soldiers who are messed up from their missions into the past. She looks after them and entertains them and as she does, the truth about this wild war becomes clear. Soldiers from different times clash, raising questions about what it means to remember who you are when your past is always changing. The story is both funny and serious, looking at how war messes with people's minds and what it means to be human when time doesn't matter.
