Summary

** "The Sunlit Hours" by Émile Verhaeren is a series of poems that paints a picture of love, the outdoors, and the loveliness of brief instances, while at the same time pondering the happiness and sadness that comes with being human. Verhaeren looks at how love goes above and beyond and the strong feelings that connect people to the world around them by using bright pictures and language that makes you feel something. In this collection, the poems explore how complicated love is, showing the strong emotional connection between two people and how they share experiences in a peaceful garden. Every poem considers the purity of love mixed with the beauty of nature. The verses bring up strong images of plants, calm scenery, and how light and dark work together, capturing private and calm times, ultimately asking readers to accept the passing, yet deep, nature of love and life. **
