A Prairie Courtship

"A Prairie Courtship" by Harold Bindloss is a story set in the early 1900s that tells of Alison Leigh, a young English woman seeking a fresh start on the Canadian prairie after facing tough times back home. Leaving England to travel to the Canadian prairie, Allison soon finds adjusting to the prairie's tough environment more difficult than she imagined. Alison's trip starts with a tiring train voyage to Winnipeg, and soon after arriving, she discovers that the job she came for doesn't exist anymore. Feeling alone and unsure, she meets Maverick Thorne, a helpful man whose kindness changes her path. Their developing friendship shows how important strength, friendship, and hope are, especially when facing challenges in a new and unfamiliar place.
