Summary

"The Lion's Share" by Octave Thanet is a turn-of-the-century novel that begins with Colonel Rupert Winter, a soldier back from the Philippines, who meets Cary Mercer and starts him down a path of mystery. Cary is dealing with his brother's suicide, and the book quickly becomes a story about family secrets, money problems, and figuring out who to trust, like the odd Miss Smith and the anxious Archie. Colonel Winter gets pulled into their world, where it's hard to tell who's telling the truth, and families begin to unravel during the drama of loyalty, suspicion, and figuring out what really happened.
