Summary

"The Camerons of Highboro" by Beth Bradford Gilchrist is a story from the early 1900s about a fancy young lady named Elliott Cameron, whose fancy life is turned upside down when she must live with her relatives on a farm because of wartime. Elliott is not happy about this change, and she has a hard time understanding why she must do chores and live differently, and she must learn to be less stuck up. The book starts with Elliott sad about being evacuted from her house, which is similar to kids all over the world without a home. She loved joking with her dad but is not happy to live with the Robert Camerons, who she finds weird, and not as good as her own family. When she gets to the Cameron farm and spends time getting to know her new cousins, we see that she does not likes their way of life, and it is hard for her to fit in and be herself. At the start, she really misses her other home, and from all the things that are happening, she begins to find out who she is as she lives and gets past the differences between how she used to live and how she lives now on the farm.
