Summary

"The Luckiest Girl in the School" by Angela Brazil is a story immersed in the early 1900s, centered on a young girl named Winona Woodward, whose life is turned upside down when her family struggles with money problems because of the war; as a result, she might have to go to Seaton High School, a fancy school, by getting a scholarship, while living with her strict Aunt Harriet, forcing her to deal with brand new challenges and chances, which is first revealed when the Woodward family starts talking about their money problems, leading Winona's mom to ask Aunt Harriet for tips; as a result, Winona is given a life-changing offer, but she's unsure if she wants to do it at first, but she slowly realizes that she wants to achieve her ambitions through the chance, revealing the stage for her growth as a person, the way her family interacts with one another, and the effect the war has on their lives.

About the Author

In the first half of the 20th century she published nearly 50 books of girls' fiction, the vast majority being boarding school stories. She also published numerous short stories in magazines.
